Dr. Azita Hamedani Joins Doctivity’s Advisory Board

July 31, 2026

Doctivity Health is pleased to welcome Azita Hamedani,MD, MPH, MBA, to our Advisory Board effective July 31, 2026.

Dr. Hamedani joins Doctivity after a distinguished 20-year career in academic medicine and health system leadership. Her experience combines front line clinical credibility with executive operating responsibility, academic health system leadership and formal business training—an important combination as healthcare organizations confront financial pressure, workforce challenges and an accelerating wave of artificial intelligence and digital health innovation.

As a member of the Advisory Board, Dr. Hamedani will help guide Doctivity’s work with health systems and healthcare leaders. Her perspective will be especially valuable as we continue helping organizations connect market and referral intelligence with the operational realities of clinician engagement, provider performance and sustainable growth.

Leadership at Health System Scale

Most recently, Dr. Hamedani served as president and CEO of UNC Health Faculty Physicians and vice dean for clinical affairs for the UNC School of Medicine.

Her responsibilities included the clinical activities of:

●     20 clinical departments

●     Nearly 2,000 faculty physicians and advanced practice providers

●     90 ambulatory clinics

●     An annual budget of more than $900 million

In this role, Dr. Hamedani led work across several of the most complex operational and financial areas within an academic faculty practice. These included physician compensation, faculty practice sustainability, integrated budgeting, ambulatory performance, medical director agreements, effort reporting and optimization of the advanced practice provider workforce.

That experience gives her a detailed understanding of how strategic decisions affect physicians, advanced practice providers, administrators, staff and patients—and why meaningful transformation requires those perspectives to be considered together.

“Dr. Hamedani understands both the strategic decisions made in the executive suite and the realities faced by clinicians and staff at the point of care,” said Cathryn Connolley, MHSA, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Doctivity Health. “Her experience leading a large academic faculty practice, improving operational and financial performance and helping clinical teams navigate change will be invaluable as we continue developing solutions that turn healthcare data into practical, measurable action.”

Building and Transforming Clinical Organizations

Before joining UNC Health, Dr. Hamedani was the founding chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health.

During her tenure, she led the creation of emergency medicine residency and fellowship programs, expanded clinical services and improved departmental operations. She also supported the growth of the department’s research portfolio, helping it achieve a top-10 national ranking for National Institutes of Health funding.

Her leadership extended beyond the department. Dr.Hamedani served as vice chair of the Council of Chairs, chair of the Clinical Funds Flow Committee and medical director of the university’s innovation hub. She also advised senior executives on integrating clinical operations, information services and innovation.

Turning Innovation Into Sustainable Adoption

Healthcare organizations have no shortage of potential technology solutions. The more difficult questions are which innovations are worth pursuing, whether an organization is operationally prepared to use them and how clinical teams can be engaged so that adoption lasts.

These questions are central to Dr. Hamedani’s current work as a strategic and operational advisor to health systems, healthcare start-ups and venture capital firms. She helps organizations evaluate new technologies and care delivery models while considering their financial, operational and clinical implications.

Her approach starts with the people expected to use a new process or technology. Rather than treating implementation as a purely technical exercise, she focuses on reducing friction for physicians, advanced practice providers and staff while ensuring that innovation ultimately improves patient care.

“Healthcare organizations are facing significant pressure to improve performance while simultaneously introducing new technologies, redesigning care and supporting an already strained workforce, ”Dr. Hamedani said. “Doctivity’s emphasis on actionable intelligence and measurable results aligns with my belief that successful innovation must improve patient care while reducing friction for physicians, advanced practice providers and staff. I look forward to helping Doctivity and its health system partners translate insight into meaningful and sustainable change.”

A Perspective That Complements Doctivity’s Mission

Our platform brings together market intelligence, referral insights, provider engagement and performance reporting so healthcare leaders can strengthen their networks, focus their resources and measure the results of their growth strategies.

Dr. Hamedani’s experience will help us continue connecting that intelligence with the clinical and operational environments in which decisions must be implemented.

Her understanding of faculty practice economics, ambulatory operations, clinician compensation, workforce optimization and innovation adoption will provide valuable guidance as Doctivity expands its capabilities and partnerships with healthcare organizations across the country.
